23 Notes To My Ex

FRAGRANCE FAMILY | FOUGERE

SEASON | SPRING

NOTES | Ivy, Pineapple Sage, Tonka Bean, Atlas Cedar, Cannabis, Styrax, Ambrette, Red-wood Cedar Leaf, Jasmine

Do You remember my trip to see you in San Francisco? Every corner of the city presented a feast for the senses. You love your city,  you showed it to me through your eyes. We made our way to the botanical gardens and the hot houses of flowers. The wild tenacity of so many beautiful herbs, flowers, leafs and wood was almost everywhere and everything all at once. Each species of plant had  a small descriptive plaque so as to help us keep our place in the journey. As we made our way through these small wonders we were arrested by the perplexing aroma of the humble bush of Pineapple Sage and time stood still. It is no small miracle that two people can be so impacted in the same way, by the same smell, at the same time. It was the sharp, cold spice of verdant clary sage, gently cloaked by delicate wisps of pineapple. So profound was the effect of this little plant we spoke of nothing else the whole way home. I will never have words to help you remember that day. So all of these are my notes to you, from the cannabis forever clinging to your hair to the redwood needles in the air and of course our pineapple sage; 23 Notes so that you won’t soon forget the bliss that held court in our noses and minds.

Basic Butch

FRAGRANCE FAMILY | COLOGNE - WOOD

SEASON | ANY

NOTES | Pine, Oakmoss, Calone, Musk

I was inspired by my memories of summer camp, as I recall it was the first time I was exposed to the grooming rituals of so many other boys all at one time. The general air held a cacophony of masculine deodorant sprays mingled with the Pinesoled cabin floors and the various soap bars left in the showers.I suppose this olfactive right of passage is as basic as it gets, it’s the first time that you associate fragrances engineered for you and your peers. I’ve always made my own decisions about what smells comfort me, alarm me or please me but the memory of this adolescent  melange has left an indelible mark on my mind. Basic Butch- boyhood in a bottle.

BoBo RICHÈ

PROGENY

FRAGRANCE FAMILY | CHYPRES

SEASON | WINTER/SUMMER

NOTES | Pineapple Candy, Oakmoss, Jasmine, Rose, Cashmere, Lily of the Valley, Eau De Gran Père, Ambergris Tincture

As a child my Grandfather was my first kindred spirit. I could always be found trailing behind him in the grip of his sillage I pawed through his cufflinks, tie clips, hair combs. I splashed on his barber-like aftershave, sat in his leather chair and sucked on butterscotch and pineapple candies. All of these are the secret to his immortality, and I can always visit him with this ticket to the past.

LTHR DDY

FRAGRANCE FAMILY | LEATHERY WOOD

SEASON | FALL

NOTES | Dry Guaiac Wood, Sandalwood, Ambrette, Saddle Leather, Iris, Cardamom, Hay, Tobacco

Jane Austin creates the gripping visage of Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. In my mind, he is the “Daddy” of all “Daddy’s”. I imagine his olfactive narration as such; the leather of his saddle riding through the English Countryside, the smell of dry book pages from which he is born, the pipe tobacco in his pouch, the and the earthy, passing florals that cling to his coat tails. He is stoic and steadfast, soft and strong. He invites curiosity and quietly commands attention. LTHR DDY, is not a boastful composition; it is meant to lend you the same quiet confidence of a man who knows exactly what he wants and who he is.
